Leaders of the Grendal City States,

Your day of reckoning has come.  The Founders, whose advanced weaponry made you bold enough to maintain war with Carolingia, Greece and eventually Wei, have been forced by Scotland to make peace.  It is time for you to do the same.  The restoration of Carolingia will occur.  It can occur at the peace table, or it can occur on the battlefield.  Peace will be had.  By negotiation, or by your anihilation.  It is time for you to choose.

We of Grendal are tired of war. We have lost many good men, woman and children in the battle to maintain our small country. We have even lost our messenger. Thus we have been deaf to world news.

Everyone on this large continent has fought valiantly for causes believed to be noble. We believe it is time for peace to wash over us letting our woman and children sleep soundly at night.

We are open to negotiations and are willing to let our small town of Shovelnose be used as a pawn in peace.

We have gotten message that there are troops bearing down on our eastern city of Olant. We resent this show of force and will fight fiercely to defense our lands.

We offer peace and look forward to many generations of being peaceful neighbors

I state again, ALL countries must lay down arms NOW.  All countries must take their troops and bring them far in their borders to limit confusion.  Except for Fosse and Maltman who will have to take cities agreed apon in the treaty.  I am not in the mood for this Davinci and Grenlock.  I will send word of this to Scotland if you two cannot back off of each other!  Angry

It would appear that our maneuvers have had the intended effect ... to awaken the leaders of Grendal to their need to adhere to their part of the path to peace.  Wei is willing to withdraw its forces back to within its borders, on the assumption that Grendal will complete the process of making Carolingia whole, and reach a peace settlement with Greece, Carolingia, and Wei.

Wei has no quarrel with Gren, other than Gren's participation in the dismembering of Carolingia as part of the Founder Alliance.  It was an unfortunate accident of geography that Gren was the target of proximity for Wei's Terra Cotta Army and Navy, as a second front of the war to take pressure off of Greece at a critical moment. Of course, had Gren not been at war alongside The Founders, it would not have made itself a target.

If our show of force has stirred up undue worries in foreign capitals, we apologize ... perhaps this recommendation for a public display, which came from our communications advisor Qim Chang Eel, was a bit over the top.

Can we assume that Agarthia will be as dilligent in holding Gren, France, and Nomads to their obligations as you were in reacting to our "pressure" on Gren?

We have in good faith accepted the terms of the peace treaty. We have given up our town of Shovelnose and found some of our missing brothers behind your lines. We request safe passage back to my country to return back to their families. We ask for 5 turns of open boarders. We also have a settler making passage to safer land. We request safe passage for him for 1 turn.

We have also found we are yet at peace between us and our neighbors to the north. The peace treaty was to end war together. This surprise has caught us off guard and raises tensions among our families. With any treaty we will need trust. Let us grow this thread of trust to a rope of strong confidence to bind us all together not rope for hanging.

We ask for the treaty to be complete with safe passage of our brothers.

With tense anticipation we wait for your reply.

If the concern is for whether there is peace between Grendal and Wei, we must point out that for certain efficiences of the war, Wei had placed itself in a state of vassalage to Greece.  I believe that Grendal can find peace with both by enacting peace with Greece.

We have accepted the reuinification of the lands of Shovelnose into the Carolingian Dynasty once again, and thank the Grendel people for making this transition an easy one. We have granted your request to move through our lands in order to return to your ancestral homeland.
