Just thought of option (5) if it works:

5) Can Viktor demand a resource from me, I refuse and therefore it declares war? Then I can offer the cities as a new capitulation deal.

This sounds like the best option, if it works?  Viktor - how soon could you test this out?

Otherwise I'd be fine with a reload.  As Carolus points out, capturing the cities by force would destroy many buildings and possibly cost him several turns as well (both to capture and then possibly to wait for the rioting to stop).

Cheers,
Munro

At this point, a reload would have to occur at the start of a turn sequence, as the auto-saves only go back to approximately the latest autosave.

So if a reload is indeed in order, which year are we talking about? (the turn sequence autosave happens at the start of each turn sequence).

Sounds like Viktor's plan might work.  I chatted with him in-game just a few minutes ago and it was sounding promising.  (When Viktor ALT-clicked on DribNairb's name, it presented him with 'a list of resources to demand').

We'll have to wait until Drib logs in to find out for sure.

If that doesn't work and we agree to reload, Drib capitulated to Viktor in 1645AD (last turn), so we should reload to the start of that turn.

Cheers

And if we do reload, we should have a discussion about the specific order for things to happen in that turn.

Just logged in - got a message frmo Viktor (amongst several attempts!  Grin) about a demand for a resource and I said no. We're now at war.

I've offered the cities to Maltman, but I won't make an offer about vassal until he's confirmed he's received them. Once that's done I'll re-capitulate to Viktor. I'm 99% certain this should all work itself out in the wash now.

I am glad this is working--much less disruptive overall. Smiley

The Carolingians are happy to report that our troops are on the way back to our homeland, and that we have officially established peace with the Founders. The Founders have been true to their word and returned the cities under their control to the Carolingian flag, and we are anxious to return our beleaguered people to their homes and their families after many years of wandering and war.

We now await word back from the allies of the Founders that they will continue with the spirit of the agreement, bringing peace once again to our lands, hopefully for good.

OOC:

I think the way we did the handover MIGHT have just fragged the game. There are French troops in some of the cities being handed over (which completed successfully), and it actually let me make peace, with those units sitting in my new cities, but us still at war. Then the PTBS kicked me, and the savegame file was corrupt when I tried to log back in. Then I logged back in and continued on, and it seemed ok - so I'm just waiting for the return of the cities from Gren and bjark - and especially bjark because his troops (MG!) are sitting in my city right now.

OOC:  uh-oh, that sounds potentially ugly.  I know one time I tried to gift a galleon with units on it, and it permanently corrupted the game file.  If you (and everyone else) is still able to log in without trouble though, maybe it's still fine.

We'll see. I expect we'll find out the answer when Bjark joins the game. But we may be seriously messing with the computer by having a unit that can't attack sitting in an enemy city.

Ah, this makes my  head hurt.  Drib went to vassel me, and it accepted in game, but neither of our scores changed??  Last time Drib dropped to 1300 and I jumped to around 1500.  This could pose a problem.  maybe we need to redo this drib and delcare war again.  I dont know.

Well, i hung around for the turn timer to expire, and for whatever reason, our scores switched at the new turn.  Dont know why it waited till then?

We should also boot Rennald to AI now too since the war is over.  Maybe we can get that timer back to 20 hours.

Very strange happennings - but as long as the game is still running I say we carry on and see what happens. After I noticed maltman had logged in I re-logged in and offered capitulation again just before I went out.

So I think that means we're basically there now. Let's hope so. I'd like to get on with the small matter of legal prosecution against those who deny The Truth!
