I will make another reboot, sure.

And yes, every single time I do a restart, I always reboot the computer completely.

As to the hardware capacity, it could very well be reaching saturation point, admittedly.  The computer I run the pitboss on is a slightly aging laptop which stays on 24/7 and has been hosting the game basically every day, all day, since 2007.  Had I the budget right now, I'd retire this old laptop and use one of my desktops to host the game (replacing it with a new model), but right now it's not in the fiscal cards unfortunately.

We may want to consider this when we start Chaos III.  Yes its nice to have more players and all, but ideally we may not be able too.  Just imagine if we still have 20 of us on the map.  Not saying this game is over yet, but what if we had alot of major powers with large forces.  How would we be able to finish the game if we reach a point where we have constant issues??  We may want to consider this.....

That's a good point, Viktor, and something we should discuss as we begin planning for CC3.

I think though, that the server load is more due to total number of units on a map--not necessarily the number of nations, but the number of units.  That said, each new player does inevitably cause an exponential number of issues such as failing to exit to program (versus desktop, which has been suspected of causing issues).

Game appears to be down: civstats off, and timing out on login.

Maybe someone does not want Munro to launch?  Shocked

Unfortunately this seems to be expected behaviour when launching in BtS pitboss.  The same thing happened in the TG Terrible Twos game when Niklas and oyzar launched.

- The pitboss server crashes when the spaceship launches
- The local copy of the game (for the person launching) keeps running after the launch, allowing them to save the game locally on their PC
- Then email that save file to the pitboss host, and the game can be restarted, post-launch, from that save, allowing the game to continue.

I have sent the save file to Capsavian so game will likely be up again later this evening when he gets back this evening and reads his messages, and restores from the save.

Sorry for the inconvenience...  !

Cheers,
Munro

PS 15 turns to landing...

I've just gotten back in, sorry for the delay.  I'll load up via the save as Munro cited.

Unfortunately, the link you sent me to in PM, Munro, returns a database error.  Perhaps their webhost is just experiencing trouble, and I will check back later.

If you get this message before the game is back online, please email the file to me:  frank [ at ] frankhurt.com
