Server down?

I can contact the host, but then it times out with 'contacting peer' (but no specific peer is specified, and civstats doesn't show anyone logged in).

da_Vinci isn't able to log in either.

Are you around to restart it?  Only 4 hours left on the clock... with me, Grenlock and Rennald still to play.

Cheers

Looks like that's fixed it.

I did manage to get in earlier this evening, but it crashed while I was logged in, and the next time I tried to connect I got the stuck 'connecting to peer' issue.  Actually I managed to get past that by turning off my firewall (seems like it may have had a stray connection still up to my PC?) but then it hung when it reached finishing..

Anyway, all working now.  Fingers crossed it doesn't crash again. Smiley  My PC died yesterday so I'm accessing from a lower spec. laptop.  That could be a factor.. Sad

I haven't brought it back up yet though!  The pitboss program froze up when I attempted to load up the save game.  Give me another few minutes and try again, lest your turn get skipped.

OK, it's back up.   You must have been logging in right when the savegame was being loaded--or some impressively coincidental quirk.

I'm on holiday this weekend and logging in from a laptop - I've just realised having played my turn that da Vinci hasn't played yet. I assumed the turn would be nearly over by now but since there seems to have been a problem with the server the turn isn't going to finish when I expected it.

From what I can see, i dont think it will make much difference, but apologies to da Vinci if it does.

No problems with the temporary reversal of turn order between us from my perspective.  I will continue to go first as usual from here on.

Of course. Sorry for the mix up. I'd arranged to use a computer over the weekend at a time which should have been near the end of the turn - since it was a slow connection I just logged in without thinking [slaps wrist] and only later realised the server had been down.

Anyway, alls well that ends well. I'm back home now and normal military service will be resumed Smiley

Server down again?

I get a timeout trying to connect to host.

Edit: I see dV has since successfully connected and played his turn, but I still get the same error.  The first time it looks like it's going to go through (I get the leader selection screen and it starts transferring data) but then it loses its connection to the host and subsequent attempts time out connecting to host.

Capsav - any ideas?  Could you try restarting the server (or the app)?

Cheers

Looks like it's not just me - from the civstats log, it looks like Fosse and Viktor are having trouble getting in as well (and Grenlock is also still to play).

There's only 4 hours left on the clock and this was my last chance to play this turn.

Cap - after restarting the server would it be possible to either leave it paused (until everyone has played), or just reload from the start of the turn (1716 AD) so that those who have not yet played won't miss their turns?

Thanks,
Munro

Yes, I cannot log in either.  Pausing or resetting the time for us 3 to get our turns done would be fine.  I need to go to bed now, so I will try again in the morning.  With just 3 of us, the timer or pausing shouldnt be too long.

agh, just getting back into the office and seeing this message now.  Looks like I'll have to reload at Fosse's latest autosave.

Not sure what was going on, as dV was clearly able to take his turn.

Can anybody log in and unpause it?  I have a diplomacy window up, so I'm effectively locked out of the game while it's paused.

I'll be logging in and playing about 6 hours from now, so I'll (hopefully) be able to unpause it then.  But I don't want to just leave it unpaused in case you aren't able to play immediately.  When are you likely to be checking back to play your turn?

I'm logging in now;  I'll unpause it, and if you could just re-pause it after you've done your turn, please?

Looks like Fosse just played but left it unpaused...  Is anyone in a position to log in and pause it again?  Otherwise the turn timer is going to run out before I get back from work today...

Thanks in advance,

I paused it.  My PC crashed while I was logged in, so I had to re-enter to finish my turn and pause.

Great, thanks everyone.

I'm logged in now and will play my turn.  I assume I should leave it unpaused now?  Only Grenlock left to play but he hasn't logged in since tuesday so we probably shouldn't hold things up any further (and it doesn't look like he tried to log in yesterday either so would have already missed his turn anyway)?

Some game yesterday had me trying about three times to get in ... but that seemed better after a reboot at my end.  Don't recall if it was this or one at TG.  So my turn may not have been so "clear" yesterday.

Uh oh - game appears to be down again.  Civstats reports "The uploader is currently not connected, so stats might be out of date." and when I try to connect it times out 'connecting to host'.

Cap - can you check it out?

Thanks

I have to head off to get some sleep now and will be out of town for a few days.  I should still be able to log in while I"m gone but it could be nearly 24 hours from now until I get the chance to log in again.  Any chance we could we leave the game paused again once it comes back up to make sure everyone gets a chance to play their turns (or if that causes too much hassle with the diplo screens, reload from the very beginning of the turn )?

Cheers

Hmm.  I can connect to the host now, but now it gets stuck 'Waiting for Civ Choices..." (just shows the civ selection screen but with no civs to choose from).

I'm trying to connect using a 3G card which can be pretty slow here so that could be a factor (though I've connected successfully with it several times before).  Anyone else seeing problems though?

I connect routintely via a 3G card, which works fine.  Cap's server never seems to download any faster than about 115 kbps even though my card routinely gives me download speeds of 8 to 10 times that ...

So unless you have pitiful service on the card in your location, Munro, I think the blame lies elsewhere.

Have we maxed out the hardware, with these settings?

How strange.  I'm now connected to a full speed network and still get this problem.  I can connect to other pitboss games fine.  However, when trying to connect to C&C2 it freezes on the following screen:

Cap - any chance you could try restarting the server one more time, and leave it paused - and I'll try again later this evening?

As it only seems to be C&C2 that's affected, it suggests there might still be a problem on the host side.  (Did you restart the whole server, or just the pitboss app?  Maybe it would be worth a full reboot)?

Thanks
