With Munro on leave for 2-3 weeks' vacation, and Quotey still as yet unable to return, I have asked if Nadine (Matriarch) would be interested in subbing for the Scots.  She is interested in returning to Chaos and Civility, but brought up a good point:  will the other players permit her return, considering she has been killed off previously?

Though we allowed Hoplosternum and Tommy both to return to Chaos and Civility (Hoplo back to his own civ, Tommy to another on his same continent), in this case the country she would be taking over is in the same region.

So what say you, fellow despots? In particular, I am interested in hearing from players on this same continent, as it will effect them more than it will the other continent.

And Matriarch, if you do return, try not to get killed off before Munro returns!  Tongue

I don't see a problem with it, it is not like she'll have the same relations as previously and the game should have changed enough that any previous knowledge she might have is rather irrelevant...

Well, without giving too much away, I believe she'll be in a very similar situation as far as relations go as previous.  The Scottish Civ lies between Campeche and Aidern.  Henna was pretty much in the same spot, albeit a bit closer to Rohan.  The Scottish Civ has (my current read on the situation) close ties to Aidern, as did Henna.

I'm commenting here because I believe Campeche is probably the most affected.  The Scots, friendly neighbors that they are, are on our doorstep.

What has changed?  Well, most importantly, we all (Aidern & Scotland & Campeche/Rohan/Yourcenae) seem to be getting along well.  We have open borders.  Everyone seems to have a somewhat defensive, and not overly offensive posture as far as units go.  There are trades ongoing.  Scouts are traveling throughout all nations "trust, but verify".  Peace and Prosperity abound.

What say I?  I say "Yeah".  With one request.  I'd ask that Nadine do her best to play the Civ as Quotey and Munro have been playing it.  If they were planning a sneak attack on me in 10 turns, then so be it...I'll deal with it.   But if their plan was to continue the "Civility", and not the "Chaos", then I'd ask that Scottish Civ continue in that manner.  Or to put it perhaps another way, let's not attempt to role-play "Matriarch of Henna" back into the game, and instead let Nadine create either a new Scottish persona as she subs, or continue with the role-play as Quotey has set it up.

ahoy pirate(s)!

i have still been lurking about these parts and it's exiting to think i might get a chance to play with y'all again.

Snarlins concern makes sense.  I don't want to upset the boat or apple cart or anything.  I would be just subbing until Munro or Quoty get back (whenever that is?).  I am not all together sure about what state things are but hopefully I can prove that I am not a warmonger (though I was invaded last time remember?)  Tongue

I guess it is up to Munro and Quoty too.  Maybe they want me to keep my paws off of their scottish whiskey!

Thanks Snarlin - and I completely agree.  I am only gone for a few weeks and would prefer that Matriach continue to play much as I would have done.. so it sounds like we are all on the same page parchment there so to speak. :p

I am going to be heading out very soon so unless anyone raises any further objections (and especially since it seems that my immediate neighbours are all comfortable with the idea) I'd like to start filling Matriarch in on current Scottish affairs later today while there is still time.  Please shout ASAP if there are any remaining objections!

Have a great christmas everyone and I look forward to picking things back up on jan 5th when I return (if Quotey himself has not yet returned).

Cheers,
Munro

It would be fine for Mary, Queen of Scots to rule in Scotland.

(Didn't that Matriarch of Henna go insane, anyway?  So I don't think that the Matriarch of Henna is in any condition to return ... )

Sadly, I suppose that Mary will be executed once Elizabeth Munro returns  ...

I have no problem with Matriarch (Nadine) running Scotland ...

I am quite sure that Scottish scouts have seen everything that Henna ever knew.

You guys are starting to give me an identity crisis!   Embarrassed  Tongue  Undecided

hmmmm, Queen you say?  I like the sound of that.  OK, I'll take the job!  Grin

Munro, I probably won't be able to get today's turn done (maybe, but no promises;  I don't know if I will get home from work in time).  If you could PM me with the password and any instructions I will do my best not to ruin your empire.
