I am having difficulty in getting the mod to run. I have put the mod into the beyond the sword mod folder, it acts like it is going to load and then crashes at the very end. I can even hear the music but the dreaded windows note saying that windows has to shut down the program.

I have purchased the civilization gold edition with the warlords expansion pack and beyond the sword.

Any suggs? I have a 64k video card. I am wondering if I need more?

There are several things you can have done wrong, one is using a weird program to unextract the mod creating an extra folder(it should be C:\Program files\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4\Beyond the Sword\Mods\40Civs then have a 40civs.ini, a readme and an asset folder, and maybe a backup of the ini file). You could have also put it in the wrong folder(there is a mod folder on documents\beyond the sword\mod as well), if you put it there you need to move it.

64kb video card?  Is it running Windows 3.1? 

So you are able to load Beyond The Sword without the mod, correct?  It's just when you attempt to load the mod, you run into issues?

If so, then I agree with Oyzar's assessment;  either the mod was unpacked badly (managed to get corrupt) or else you placed it in the wrong location. 

The final folder to be dragged into the BtS /mods/ folder should read /40Civs/    Be sure you are not attempting to load up /40Civs50/40Civs/ as that won't work (shouldn't crash the program, but it won't run properly).

So, please confirm you can load up BtS without the mod first.  Then, check the location and if it's in the correct location (read the readme.txt file) then I would suggest you download and unpack with a different program, such as 7zip.  Or email me and I can archive as a .zip instead.
