Dernish scouts defend Scottish outpost
Les Statuarie, Scotland 1500 BCE

A Dernish scouting detachment found their mission of exploration set aside when exploring the northern reaches of Scottish territories.

Daffadar MarlCarpmouth has the honor of leading one of the first expeditions in centuries.  Made possible with the final brokering of peace with the Rohirrim to the south, the Umber Guard sent the volunteer with the objective of charting the unknown lands beyond Dernish borders.  The Daffadar, distinguished for his leadership in the Central Drylands' forays which as yet remain classified, confided in his relatives that he was ready for "a more relaxing adventure".

The adventure he is finding has certainly not proven relaxing.  Even while within Scottish borders, the Daffadar's expedition stumbled into two units of barbarians, moving to attack the settlement of Les Statuarie.  The Daffadar and his men quickly dispatched the southern element of the enemy, only to realize a second, stronger force was preparing an onslaught on the lightly-defended Scottish settlement across the river.

Wheeling his horsemen around, MarlCarpmouth and his exhausted veterans forded the river and arrived in the village.  With no time to erect even the hastiest of defenses, the small unit joined the beleaguered citizens of Les Statuarie in a desperate stand against a determined enemy.

So much for a more relaxing adventure.
