Dear leader,

We have not met before, but my weary traveller came across your lands many nights ago. Having seen or heard nobody we do not know if your lands are even inhabited. However, if they are please be aware that we mean you no harm.

Our scouting group was ambushed two nights ago by enemies in the jungle. They survived, but only just - the wounded are in mortal peril, but the barbarians do not let up. The group decided to march continously through the night to put distance between them and the barbarians. However, in doing so they had to keep to the jungle to avoid exposure. This act led them into your borders temporarily and may be taken as an indirect declaration of war by some of your people. If this is so then I apologise - we have no desire for this.

Instead, please let me extend the hand of peace, and if you are willing open borders will allow my injured parties to rest in one of your villages.
