Hi,
I'm having issues getting the leaderheads enabled every time I connect to the game and it seems to be getting worse by the day. I don't know if I'm the first to experience this, but it can take as much as 15 minutes or more of waiting and today (or now) I'm at 20 minutes with no sign of action. What could be the cause of this? Re-subbing slaze might be in order unless I find a way to fix it as this waiting is really frustrating. Everything else seems normal -- I connect quickly to the server and load the map 'OK', but the leader selection menu is taking forever.

Sounds like the same problem emperor had... Maybe reinstalling civ would help...

hmmmm, yeah, a reinstall maybe. Are you on a slower/older computer?
I haven't heard from anyone having similar issues, at least not for this game.
Ironically, I've actually upgraded my ISP line--getting speeds nearly twice what I was before!

I've had this happen too. After I restarted Civ a couple of times and it eventually cleared up.
My machine is a newer quad core so I think it is something unrelated to the age of the machine.

I also encountered this things. Before several days it is ok and normal, but today there is no leaders for me to choose as "Waiting for Civ Choices" appeared. I have rebooted but it is the same. I think it is server's problem. Shall the host reboot the server and see whether the situation can be improved or not?

This happens to me when I try to connect from my office.  So I would imagine its firewall setting related?

I don't think it is firewall related because I'm directly connect to internet without passing through firewall.

He doesn't get to the log in part if he doesn't get up the leaderheads...

I had misread his post; I thought he was back to normal, but receiving sporadic problems.
Tommy, the server has actually been rebooted today (due to the reload request). As most everyone else can get logged in, I can't help but think the issue is unique to those few who are having trouble.
Emperor had trouble before, and he was from New Zealand. You live in Hong Kong, if I remember correctly, Tommy? I wonder if the originating IPs from that part of the world could somehow not be sitting well with my ISP or an upstream router, possible?!

maltman is from the US and rusten is from norway... don't think countries have anything to do with it at least...

I think the host need to find a sub for me. I think the ISP firewall has blocked our connection. Before finding sub for me, please change it to AI. I'm sorry for that.

I've been chewing on this connectivity problem some players have been experiencing. If you would please, Tommy, could you please PM me your IP address? I will check my local gateway security logs, just to confirm it is not inadvertently trying to block you. Though if that's the case, I would think it would block you ALWAYS, not just some of the time.
But, maybe you are trying to connect with a dynamic IP, or at different locations/with different ISPs (like Maltman).
Still, wouldn't hurt to look!
