Welcome to MY empire.

Theudebald is a boorish cousin of mine, but a fine warrior. His single-minded pursuit of his enemy will be useful... though to this point he has only demonstrated it in our hunting parties. Nevertheless, I've decided that he's suitable to lead a band of our warriors into the wild jungles to the south and east.

Apparently they are some large game they have brought down, and I worry that this is where they will focus their time, when I'd prefer they did a little more exploring for me. Nothing but jungles, mountains and big cats as far as they've told me.

Somewhere there has to be better lands than these infernal jungles! No room for crops, and not much potential for expansion. Harumph.

There may be an end to the jungles of the east!

Theudebald says he has sighted some clearings far to the east of the Alps, and there may be clear land beyond. I have asked him to investigate further.

Meanwhile Cedric has led another band of warriors to the northeast and they have found a sea, which we will call the Baltic. We know not how wide or deep it is, and we fear its angry waters. We might wish to settle on its shores and explore its waves in the future - but at this point we'll keep our feet on dry land, thank you. We'll keep to the schnitzel for now, and bread from the bumper crop of grain after our agricultural advancements!

It had been a long time since I heard from our scouting parties - so vast and forbidding are the dense jungles of the east. They are quite literally teeming with large beasts, and some of our brave men have died in the darkness.

Along the way through the southern portion of the jungle we happened across a Mayan encampment, and they just glared at us as we receded back into the jungles.

But once things opened up, far far to the east, we have found open spaces, and even settlements - peopled by Arctic Nomads, Frenchmen, and a strange people known as Dokkos.

And we do not know from whence they come, but there are other people walking these lands, and occasionally we find fellow travellers in the jungles.

We are far from alone, and this world is a bewildering place. I must think first for the protection of my people, so we will string more bows to equip our men, and find high places to watch the borders and protect us from any who have less than noble intentions.

Our wandering warriors have returned after exploring the eastern jungles and the wilds beyond! They are greeted as heroes with a fine feed of schnitzel on fine ivory platters.

We have met neighbours both friendly and somewhat rude, and some of them have moved closer to us - with border treaties under negotiation.

I myself have been travelling as well - so it is good that my people have been at peace and protected while I have been seeing far away lands and negotiating.

But now I am back, and we will see where fate takes us...
