Hi Capsavian... Can you set up an embassy for Carthage?

Before this game, I didn't know much about Carthage and the only thing I knew about Hannibal was that he led elephants over the alps.  So I figured I'd take this opportunity to learn about this incredible civilization by stepping into their culture first-hand.

Certainly a fascinating history.  And by the time you're done with your research, you'll have grown to hate the Romans. Tongue

Provolution, your embassy is also ready.

Ceterum censeo Carthaginem esse delendam.

In other words, watch out for those Romans.  Wink

I, Mansa Kankan Musa, do hereby request an embassy for the Mali Empire.

(Like AFsoccer, I'll RP as the leader I'm playing; I'm new to RP, so that just seems easier than making up something from scratch.)

Etruscan Republic kindly asks for additional enhancement for her Embassy:

- separate sections (or threads? we are a nation poorly skilled with spider language...), described in The Guide: Trade Network, Foreign Policy, War Effort, Press & Diaries and Etruscan history
- moving two history topics inside appropriate section

Pretty sure you can do that yourself...

Um... the only creative options I can see are "new topics" and "new polls", while I need several folders for those (figuratively speaking, I still struggle with this alien language within another almost-as-alien language); and I'm pretty sure moving posts is out of my hands.

The new embassies have been set up.

Frobisher -- you are requesting sub-boards for each of those topics, is that what you mean?  I'll set these up, though I'd like to avoid a situation where everybody starts requesting a bunch of sub-boards, since it can get messy rather quickly.  So long as they actually get used, I don't have a problem doing so though (I just don't want more empty boards. Wink  )

And yes, moderator actions can only be done by me.  That includes moving of posts.

By the way, "threads" and "topics" are the same thing.  Smiley

I think its better for you NOT to use sub-boards. They'll be really confusing and people won't want to navigate to those areas and might miss your great topics. Smiley

Instead, just make a new "topic" for each of your ongoing areas - its really up to you how many topics you want within your own Embassy board. Smiley

Yes, I'd rather you do as Maltman suggested.  However, I've set up sub-boards as you requested.  If you decide not to use them, and instead go the route of setting up threads, let me know so I can delete the sub-boards.

Thanks for your help. The idea was to save a spot in general area for possible OOC discussion (although I think I might be a control freak as well Wink ) and avoid any non-related topics to be mixing with each other. I (unfortunately) have too much free time lately, so I'm willing to test this new look for about a week - then I will happily accept any verdict. Considering ie. my issues with threadotopics, this arrangement might be more helpful for me than for anyone else  Grin

Forgive my ignorance. What are these embassies for? Are they secret to other players to record your passage through the game? And if so why are they called embassies? Or what?

Not secret, as you will see by going in and reading them.  I suppose oyzars spoiler thread/forum (whichever it is) is secret, but the embassys are not.

Right--not secret, but meant as an outlet for your roleplay.  Use it to write about your nation or make official announcements.

When you meet another nation, you can use their embassy as a point of contact, and for public negotiations (private negotiations to presumably take place in PMs or email).

Quotey, I'll set that sub-board up for you now.
